Supporting Haitian Church Planters

We’re working in partnership with church planters in Haiti to fuel their efforts in providing water, food, and shelter amid an intensifying humanitarian, political, and security crisis.

The situation in Haiti has reached the point of catastrophe.

The country's government is deteriorating, leaving hundreds of thousands of people vulnerable to violence from gangs that now terrorize the nation. Families are fleeing their homes in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas, abandoning their homes, businesses, and other sources of support, including farms. The state of the nation has led to a lack of water, food, shelter, and the means to purchase any that is available, pushing people to the brink of starvation and exposing them to diseases like cholera due to the absence of clean drinking water.

Spanish River Church and many of our friends in South Florida have been actively serving the people of Haiti for over three decades, helping to plant churches and meet their needs. ESMI (El Shaddai Ministries International) and MERH (Mission Eglises Reformée D'Haiti) have planted 207 churches in Haiti, 50 of which Spanish River Church has supported. 105 additional churches are in the process of being planted in Haiti.

Churches in Haiti are struggling to help people find temporary shelter and enough to eat. Although we pray this ongoing situation will be temporary until the government is restored, the lasting effects of this season of devastation will long be felt by the Haitian people. These churches are trying to provide temporary shelter and clean drinking water. There is food available for purchase, but it is 10 to 20 times more expensive than just a few months ago, and people have no means of purchasing it. ESMI is expending approximately $120,000 per week on food and water purchases.

Spanish River Church is now calling for urgent donations to fund the humanitarian efforts of our church partners in Haiti. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of those currently without shelter, food, and clean water. By donating, you are providing immediate relief, extending God's love, and sharing the message of hope found in the Gospel with those enduring immense hardship.

Your compassion, expressed through both prayer and financial resources, will make a tangible difference in the lives of our Haitian neighbors facing these dire circumstances.

Provide food, shelter, and water.

Our Church Planters

Dony St. Germain is the head of El Shaddai Ministries and oversees a seminary in Jeremie, Haiti, that is training future pastors. He trains Haitian leaders in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, USA, and Canada. Furthermore, he and his wife, Sharon, serve as church movement leaders with Mission to North America (MNA).

What to Pray for

• Peace to be restored in the land! Please pray that the gangs will lower their weapons and allow the people to elect a new leader.

• The pastors will continue to preach the Gospel in such a time as this.

• Pray that as we minister to the community's felt needs by distributing aid, doors will be opened for the Gospel to be shared.
